Valentine's Day card #1

Time for some lovin'!! Lol. Simon says stamp has issued a Valentine's Day card challenge, and I have made my first! Nothing too complicated, it was fun though! The base card is white Simon says stamp (SSS) 150lb base weight card stock, cut to standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 size, short top folding. The SSS largest sized stitched rectangle die was used to cut the center panel (pnl) out of blue paper, I added edge blending w/ Tim holtz (TH) distressed ink broken china, I used the cloud die from the SSS soaring for you set to cut out cloud shapes from the pnl, & attached it to the card base w/ thin foam tape. I also added the frame cutout from the center pnl to the base card, fussy cut it to size & attached w/ glue runner. Then I cut more clouds from plain white cardstock that I attached w/ doubled up foam squars, edge blended w/ TH distressed ink broken china and shaded w/ copics. The grassy hills at the bottom were just fussy cut from green scraps, and were edge blended using the TH distress ink fresh cut grass. I stamped all of the images using the versafine black ink, colored using copics (I have a list of what was used if anyone wants me to start posting that too), the stamp sets used were SSS soaring for you stamp & die set and Julie Nutting's lots of love stamps. I stamped and fussy cut the girl, used glossy accents, white enamel accents, and clear wink of Stella to embellish. The hearts were all punched out of random patterned paper from my scrap stash using a Martha Stewart heart paper punch, attached w/ elders glue & foam squares, accented w/ a uniball white pen. SSS January 2015 card kit card.

Yay! This is the first time I've gotten a card done within the month of the kit! Lol when you are station overseas and have an APO address, things tend to take a while for shipping! I had a lot of fun with this one, the base card is Simon says stamp (SSS) white 150lb base weight card stock cut to standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 side folding size. The background panel (pnl) is 4"x 5 1/4, the wood fence paper is 3x3, all attached w/ the glue runner pictured above (all patterned paper, stamps and most supplies were included in the card kit). I cut out the "doors" from one of the patterned papers, used thin scraps as hinges, and cut the inside of the "doors" from the same paper. I used the Tim holtz distressed embossing ink to stamp the "thanks", covered it w/ ranger "sticky" embossing pwd and heat set it, then covered it in the purple perfect pearls, misted it with water (using the mini mister) after wiping off the excess to set the pwd. For the "snow much" I tried to use the SSS white pigment ink, but had some difficulties getting a clean image (it's not something I've used before), so I then covered it in ranger fine white embossing pwd and heat set it. The "for everything you do" and internal snow flakes I used the color box dark & light purple pigment ink. The "door handles" are clear iridescent sequins (available @ SSS) and the clear snow flake sequins are from a previous card kit (also available @ SSS) all attached w/ matte medium. I used an awl (bought at a dolor store) to poke a hole in the side of the card where I ran the lt blue twine through (from American crafts) and tied a bow to keep the doors closed. SSS Aug 2014 card kit card.

I have to admit, the teal colored one is my fav so I'm going to focus on it. All of the card stock used started off as smooth white, the background panel was stamped with the small ice cream stamps w/ clear versamark ink in a random pattern, heat embossed w/ ranger clear embossing pwd, and Tim holtz peacock feather distress ink blended on top. The big ice cream image was stamped using memento tuxedo black ink, colored w/ copics, fussy cut and covered w/ ranger glossy accents and attached w/ foam squares. The top panel's images were stamped with the same peacock feather distress ink and clear embossed, w/ slight edge blending around the whole pnl attached w/ foam squares. The banner is hand cut using the exact same technique as the background pnl also attached w/ foam squares. There are also a few random gem stones attached to the surface as well. "Classy" Halloween card.

Ok, this one was a fun accident! The stamp is from tattered Angels vintage seasons Halloween hauntings, stamped w/ clear versamark ink, heat embossed with ranger super fine white embossing pwd. On top of the image the gradient candy corn colors were made by blending Tim holtz distressed inks spiced marmalade (bottom), and mustand seed (middle) onto white Simon says stamp (SSS) 120lb base weight cardstock, cut to standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 long top folding size. I used store bought thin garden twine to wrap around it, and attached homemade perler bead enamel dots (there's a great tutorial on YouTube by corenscreations) glued down w/ multi-matte medium. 

Sending happy mail card

This is one of the cards I'm most proud of, it's my first shaker card! The frame, inner background and acetate have been die cut using the Simon says stamp (SSS) stitched rectangles, the "sending" die cut is also from SSS. The little monster and envelopes are stamped & die cut using the 2015 SSS monster hugs set & colored using copic markers, the set was also used to stamp the "happy mail" which I heat embossed w/ ranger super fine white embossing pwd. The inside sentiment die cut & stamped w/ the 2015 SSS sending & wishing set, shadow added w/ copics, highlighted w/ uniball signo white pen. The card size is standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 top folding, and unfortunately I can't tell you what paper was used as it was given to me as a gift without any packaging. There are also clear iridescent sequins that I got as a gift (I think they're availble @ SSS), I used a ranger foam tape roll doubled up to pop up the frame/acetate, and used a embossing powder tool on the inside of the tape so the shaker content would not stick to it (I believe baby pwd would work too).

First ever blog post.

So, I've decided to start a blog (more for personal use than anything) of my crafting and art projects, this is my very first blog post, and I am very unfamiliar with how this whole thing works, so until I get the swing of things please be patient with me. My hope is that anyone who reads my posts on this blog can find inspiration for their own crafting/art, and help me find inspiration too, so if you have any suggestions or ideas please leave a comment. If you are reading this be forewarned my grammar and spelling are less than ideal, I am always happy to receive constructive criticism, however, "flaming" or pointless unconstructive insulting will be ignored/deleted.
